ode to the garden

I am too lazy to weed.
The snails are eating the snow peas.
And the lettuce seeds never sprouted.

But, the garden grows.

and I learn.

Slowly.

To grow.

Joshua tree: part III

I hear a pair of owls
 outside my trailer window
hooting at one another
in the dark.

the darkness
like boulders
heavy in solitude.

I feel the baby kicking
inside my swollen belly.
I place my hand
and smile.

the humpback of a whale

On the way to Catalina Island, I spotted a humpback. I was pregnant and didn't know it. I thought I was getting seasick, but it might of been morning sickness. The horizon was invisible.
